INSIGHT INTO THE CYCLE OF C.A.C. GOOD WOMEN CHOIR RECORDS

When the leadership of C.A.C. Good Women Choir Ibadan and District received the leading of the Holy Spirit to start waxing record in 1976, the decision was communicated to C.A.C. Church Council and approval was given to the Choir to go ahead. This made the Leadership of the Choir to start making contact to some of the existing marketer of that time including Ibukun Orisun-Iye Records Label.

Out of all the marketers approached by the leadership of the Choir, only Ibukun Orisun-Iye showed the willingness to gamble on the Choir. This was because C.A.C. Good Women Choir Ibadan members were all female and prior to that time no female Choir has ever wax a record in the history of Nigeria Gospel Industry.

So on Apri,l 1977, the Choir went to the studio (DECCA West Africa) to record their maiden album titled “Halleluyah Ale”. After which “Mo Nwoju Olorun, Kaye Koyo, Odun Nlo Sopin, Odun Yi Atura and other 20 album were recorded and all these albums were produced by the same Record Label “Ibukun Orisun-Iye.

At that time, records were played on gramophone or turntable.

A record is a round, flat piece of black plastic on which sound, especially music, is stored, and which can be played on a record player. You can also refer to the music stored on this piece of plastic as a record. The platter is the spinning surface on which the vinyl record rests during playback. A high-quality turntable platter helps maintain consistent speed and reduces vibrations, resulting in a clearer and more accurate sound. Within the realm of vinyl records, the terms “turntable” and “record player” often emerge, and while they may seem synonymous, these two audio devices possess distinct characteristics. A record or vinyl is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove.

It is of great importance to note that all C.A.C. Good Women Choir Ibadan 25 album were produced at Decca West Africa using Vinyl technology as available at that time. But as technology improves and Vinyl became obsolete, the albums production graduated into Audio Cassette, then it moves to Audio Compact Disc and Video Compact Disc, which later made way for Content Download and most recently Streaming from various Digital Stores Worldwide.

The above shows us that since 1977 when C.A.C. Good Women Choir Ibadan led by Mrs. D.A. Fasoyin recorded their first album, there has been progressive technological evolutionary circles in the industry. If the Choir had not follow the evolutionary trend, perhaps probably they would have been swept away and long forgotten. But thanks to visionary leadership.
